About the Company:
NovaBay Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is a clinical-stage specialty pharmaceutical company focused on developing its proprietary and patented Aganocide® compounds, which are novel, synthetic anti-infective product candidates with equivalent activity to the active antimicrobial molecules generated within white blood cells. NovaBay’s Aganocide compounds are being developed to treat and prevent a wide range of infections without causing bacterial resistance. NovaBay has internal development programs aimed at addressing hospital and respiratory infections. NovaBay’s lead Aganocide compound is in Phase 2 clinical testing for treating Conjunctivitis, Impetigo and Catheter-Associated Urinary Tract Infection.
The company has established major corporate partnerships with Alcon, the world’s leading ophthalmology company, and Galderma S.A., a global pharmaceutical firm dedicated to the dermatology market. NovaBay is also advancing unpartnered proprietary early stage programs addressing large markets such as urinary catheter care, central venous catheter care and onychomycosis, or nail fungus.
Job Summary:
The CMO will be the integral part of the management team of NovaBay and their top executive responsible for developing the company’s global product portfolio strategy to bring products to market in compliance with global regulatory, legislative and medical/health requirements. The CMO will be the Company’s most senior advisor of medical/health related matters on a global basis.
Job Responsibilities:
- The position has functional responsibility for all clinical development activities, including pre-clinical through Phase III programs and future responsibility for marketed products.
- Responsibility for developing strategic plans for the company’s product portfolio, ensuring that development programs meet international quality and safety standards required by medical and regulatory agencies.
- Overseeing the portfolio management activities for the company to ensure appropriate objectives and resources are deployed to meet strategic portfolio plans, delivering on key milestones to advance all of the company’s products in development and providing strategic input to the annual and long-range budgetary process.
- Responsibility for representing the company with regulatory and legislative agencies and globally addressing the scientific and medical/health aspects of the company’s product portfolio.
- Direction of human clinical trials, Phases I through III, for pharmaceutical products under development.
- Overseeing the Company’s clinical operations department including biometrics and data management to ensure a successful product approval and launch.
- Such other tasks as may be appropriate and required.
Requirements:
- MD or MD, PhD.
- Board Certified or Eligible in Infectious Disease.
- A strong record of accomplishment in the field of anti-infective research and clinical development.
- At least ten to fifteen years experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industries, with a strong record of accomplishment in the field of anti-infective research and development.
- Strong external reputation supported by publications by his/her teams.
- Innate flexibility to work in a rapidly growing organization.
- Executive management experience in pharmaceutical or biotech industry. Experience leading representatives on one or more drug development teams in cross-functional matrix teams.
- Project management and or strategy experience in drug development with multiple compounds in various stages of development.
- In-licensing/out-licensing experience in product evaluation/due diligence.
- Public speaking is a key component of this position including but not limited to:
- Presentation of data at regional and national advisory boards;
- Facilitating consulting sessions and gathering feedback from key opinion leaders;
- Conducting site visits and hospital lectures;
- Presentation of company and data at financial forums;
- Regular interactions with key medical opinion leaders
