About the Company:
NovaBay Pharmaceuticals is a mid-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on developing its proprietary and patented Aganocide compounds, first-in-class, novel, synthetic anti-infective product candidates that are bioequivalent to the active antimicrobial molecules generated within white blood cells to treat and prevent a wide range of infections without causing resistance. NovaBay has internal development programs aimed at addressing hospital and respiratory infections. The company has a licensing and research collaboration agreement with Alcon, Inc. for use of its Aganocides in the eye, ear and sinus, and in contact lens solutions. NovaBay has entered into an agreement with Galderma S.A. to develop and commercialize Aganocides in acne, impetigo and other dermatological indications.
Job Responsibilities:
- Perform standard micro and cell biology assays.
- Learn new methods and review SOPs.
- Microbiological media preparation, including weighing powders, volume and pH adjustments, dispensing and sterilizing and preparation and filtration of complete growth media for mammalian tissue culture
- Aseptic dispensing of microbiological growth media or other solutions using micropipettes
- Lab maintenance including but not limited to dishwashing, acid washing of glass tubes and maintenance and cleaning of all water baths, incubators, and hoods.
- Removal of biological waste from microbiology and cell biology laboratories on a regular basis
- Maintain inventory of supplies including all plastic ware and glassware, tips, etc.
- Assist in generating procedure and SOP reports as time allows
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of tissue culture and microbiology labs: counter wipe down, sporadic floor wipe down, etc.
Requirements:
- A degree in Biochemistry or biology
- Able to work with a team and independently.
- Good written and oral communication
- Team player with ability to work in a fast-paced biotech environment
